WARNING: The two progs should be considered "Beta" state releases, that is they are bug free enough to be fully usable but don't have all the features I would like to add to make them "F" (Final) releases. WARNING2: This manual should be considered an ALPHA release, it contains humor and irony, and was written late on a Sunday evening. DBF2SPR/SPR2DBF --------------- (C) 1994 M.Millar Dbf2spr and spr2dbf convert Data created .DBF files to .SPR files readable by Sheet To use: Simply select the conversion method, chose the input file, select an output file (an existing file will be overwritten) chose whether you want the records in rows or columns then press enter. The first row/column of the Sheet file will be imported/exported as the DBF labels. The best way find out, as ever, is to experiment. DBF2SPR has no known bugs. It does have one feature that may or may not be considered as a bug though, _EVERYTHING_ is converted as a string. After all Data thinks everything is a string. Overly long records will be split into 255 byte record lengths. SPR2DBF has no known bugs. It is far more likely to have unknown bugs though :-) Spr2dbf currently knows about Date formats, formulae results, doubles & ints - pretty much everything that is visible on a typical Spreadsheet surface. If you want more tell me. (Ideally with a copy of the .SPR file that is causing the problems) It is limited to 255 rows or columns though. Disclaimer: Used at your own risk, I take no responsibility for any loss of data, earnings and/or sanity caused by using either program. That said, I use it, judge from that what you will. Shareware: The program is Freeware, in it's current state. I make no promises to do any further work, or fix any bugs. If you would like new features however, then financial persuasion would not go unnoticed, but I'm not going to bug you with NAG screens or waste programming time on registration codes. If you want an idea of how much œ10 seems to be the going rate. As a hint the following features were added after a single donation: Label reading/writing Date conversion Number reading Formula reading It's down to you. :-) I'm snailable as M.Millar 44 Robinwood Court Roundhay Leeds LS8 1DZ Email: 100021,3354 or millar@cix.compulink.co.uk
